It's a wrap...

Hey there! I am so sorry that my last post was in February. Since then a lot of things have happened and I was to stressed, focused and overwhelmed to dedicate much time for my blog. I had so many things I wanted to share but I was too busy getting other things sorted out. That is why I started Weekly Snapshots On Wednesdays, to keep you up to date what's going on in a very short and simple way. But it turned out not to be as easy since I have to do a lot of stuff with the pics before I can upload them. Sure it's a lot easier with Picasa (which I use) but it's still work and figuring out which photos to use, collage them and write something about it was too time consuming the last weeks but I hope to do better from now on...since I got everything settled. But from the beginning:

After my last entry I had some time off. So I did things you normally do when you don't have a schedule: RELAX AND DO NOTHING. But that only lasted a week or so. It was also my birthday and turning 25 is not all just fun. I guess the 'real' life starts now...at least for the authorities (insurance, bank...) so I had a lot of appointments and figuring things out. I also had a job interview which was kind of really nice and it calmed me down for upcoming ones since the interviewers were really nice. Even though I didn't get the job, I got a different positive answer from a university...but one by one. After all the appointments, things changing and still no idea what I was going to do from April on I wanted a break, but there was just no time for that. So when I received an email on the 6th of March I jumped for joy. I got into University of Hamburg!!!yayyyyyy I was so excited when I read that email. After two months of worrying about what I was going to do after my BA studies, I had finally got some clearance and my nerves were soothed (which was good too, because I still had to write a term paper and have my final BA exam). Now I was even more thrilled to wrap up my BA studies and finish up that last paper. So I wrote the last paper in my BA studies and was surprised when the teacher told me my grade two or three days later after I submitted it to her. The last couple of days at home I spent going to the cinema and spending some time with friends before I had to go back to Germersheim to study hard for my final exam. So I studied for a week and didn't do much besides. Two days before the exam I thought I learned everything and I had no idea what to study further, so I decided to meet up with some friends and say goodbye, since I knew these days were going to be the last ones in Germersheim... There is a saying when you come to Germersheim: You cry twice...when you come to this town and when you leave it. Coming because you are shocked it's such a small town (I didn't, I was just curious about how uni life was going to be) and going because you'd miss it somehow (well I am not sad for leaving Gtown, I'm just sad for not seeing all my friends again before I left, but I know we'll stay in touch, so my worries were at a minimum...I had such a big experience in a head of me that I couldn’t wait for it to start).

So the last week of March was a stressful one: On Monday I had my final exam and I passed it *yay*. After that I had to go to some offices to exmatriculate myself and all that stuff and then I had to pack the rest of my belongings. The next day my parents came and we stuffed two cars with all my stuff... I still can't believe how much stuff there was left since I already took home so many things...:/ Wednesday and Thursday I was going through all that stuff again and figuring out what to take to Hamburg. This was not as easy since I didn't really had a clue what I need in my new apartment. I knew that I had a room for myself but I had no idea how the kitchen and bathroom situation was handled (now I know :P) So I packed the things I thought were useful (guess there is still stuff I didn't bring with but could use...) and again stuffed the car!;)
After the Easter holidays I drove off to Hamburg and now I am almost a week here and can't believe how that first week got by so fast... but I leave that for another post!;)
So that was my crazy March…and I hope to write regularly again from now on!
Be sure to check out the whole blog if there will be a time again with no new posts! See the pages under my header and discover...

Boring...

Last week was kind of boring. I studied for my medical exam and the most exciting thing that happened that week was --- oh yeah, enjoying a good Mousse au Chocolate!:P So really nothing really exiting happened! Except for today, because I had my last written exam!Wohooo;)
1. Watching a beautiful sunset while at Uni library.
2. Working and studying hard.
3. Cooked something good, for the soul and taste (but not really for appearance).
4. Carnival at Uni.
5. Finding my seat for the big exam (which was today).
6. Another office excited about Carnival.
7. Here we go...Lets get this exam over with.
8. Giving my Uni bag, which I only use for during semester, a break for some time.
9. Having a nice meal with a friend at a great Italian restaurant.

Semester break here I come! It will be celebrated tonight!;) Of course I have to write a term paper. But that has to wait a week or so before I start. I need a break!;) TIME OFF HERE I COME...

Same procedure as last semester?

Same procedure as (almost) every semester...:D Not quite but almost. You’re wondering what I am up to? I am studying for another big medical exam. I have twice before so I know what I am into. But this time I am more calm than usual. I have no clue why but it obviously helps with the learning. So far it's going well and there are only two more days left until it's all over! Thankfully.  Not that I am worried that I didn't study enough (at least not this time) but more happily awaiting a break!!!So hopefully this will be my last post (at least for this month) about this studying and soon there will be more fun stuff like baking recipes and so!;)

SCREAM

Today I was about to scream as loud as I could. I couldn't believe when the lady from the BAföG office told me that my file was missing. I mean, come on? WHY ME? Why do things like that always happen to me? Is there somebody out there who says I am the person who should take all this crap?? I was about to explode. Is it too much to ask to keep track of these things? I had to go back into the office and guess what? The lady already took the file out of the cabinet in the morning. So she was prepared (because I send an email earlier) but forgot about it. It would have made me so angry but somehow she made it sound quite funny and I wasn't mad anymore. Now I can laugh about it but it really scared me at that moment...

Time flies...

I can't believe its February already. January just flew past me, I guess. I have been really busy with writing my BA-thesis, applying for new Uni’s and finding a job or an internship. It’s been a hell of a month and I am really glad that writing my thesis is finished and that just 2 exams are around the corner, which means I have some time to breath!:) Applying for a MA degree, especially a different one form my BA, is hard and I have still no idea what to do when April is here. We’ll see. I hope there is a change. Actually I am really praying for that!!;) But we’ll see. So far I have some internship offers and some first offers for real job but there still is some negotiating to do!;) But since I can’t make time go by fast, so that the change is already here, I will distract myself from it with studying for the exams!! So for you to see how the last couple of weeks were there are some pictures to see for yourself!
1- Finally some time to relax.
2- Me and my BA-thesis.
3- Weird thing to have in a snack.
4- Reading a book (non related to my thesis) for the first time in 3 months.
5- Freezing ice rain.
6- My package arrived, almost one and a half month late.
7- Applying for Uni's.
8- Sushi time, after I finished my thesis!!

Happy New Year...Wait, Whaaaat??

uups..guess that was a while ago!!!:P
Right?
But here it goes since I haven't been able to do this earlier!!
So here are my last years resolutions:
Resolutions for 2012:
-to get outside at least 15 minutes per day
-read 3 books a month
-find an internship
-watch two movies at the cinema each month
-craft more, e.g. sewing, handicraft and paint

The ones that are strikethrough I have been able to achieve. You know it's really hard to get outside for 15 minutes a day? I tried to and kept it up quite some time, but especially weekends are bad, because I sit at home and do Uni stuff and don't get outside. But this year I will do better, I try!  I also was able to read as many books as I wanted to, partly because of my BA-thesis and party because I was not in the reading mood. You ask: How come? I don't know, every time I picked up a book and started it, it reminded me of something (mostly sad) and I didn't want to read on....

So next(ahhh, this ^^) years resolutions are:
- Bake all recipes from my calender (there are 12)
- Read 24 (or more) books throughout the year
- Buy quality instead of quantity
- make sure to save 1€ a day (guess that'll be the hard one)
- Finish my BA and start something new
- Embrace new beginnings, whatever they are

And now there will be some thoughts on 2012:

The best that happened to me last year: there is not just one thing this year! It’s the wedding, my internship, my trip to Edinburgh and Praha…
This didn't have to happen in 2012: making others see me in a different way.
I have learned in 2012 that good friends are hard to come around to!
My movie of the year 2012 was Ziemlich Beste Freunde
My book of the year 2012 was Cecilia Ahern "One Hundred Names"
My song of the year 2012 was Robbie Williams "Candy"
My TV-show of the year was Desperate Housewives and Private Practice (both gone :( )
I've been there the first time in 2012 Praha and Edinburgh
In 2012 I travelled to: Cheb, Kalovy Vary, Luxembourg, Hockenheim Ring, Bamberg,  Kaiserslautern, Edinburgh Strasbourg and Prag
I am proud of myself for doing this in 2012: my internship.
In 2012 I should have checked off more from my resolution list
In 2012 I should have been less sidetracked.
In 2012 the saddest thing was that I felt left behind at one point…
In 2012 I spend most of my time researching.
Five words that describe 2012 for me relax, bridesmaid, get-together, goodbyes and research.
I am excited about 2013 because I’m going to finish my BA. and start something new.
Things I need to do more in 2013: focus on the important things (in life, at uni, in friendships)
Things I need to do less in 2013: buy crappy things just because they are cheap.
The craziest thing I did in 2012 was make a scene.
In 2012 I went to a (real big) wedding for the first time.
In 2012 I did this after a long time again: Seeing my friends and former Au-Pairs.
Word of the year? Bridesmaid or internship
City of the year? Praha
Best time spend with? A great friend in Edinburgh.
Best moment? Being part of the ‘Wedding of the Year’.

2012 was a really fun and exciting year for me!

Writing, writing, writing...

...the last couple of days feel like months. So there hasn't been going on much in my life. I get up in the morning, go the University library, eat something (when I can), work hard, go home and sleep. That's my day, so nothing really intresting. I have been writing my BA thesis and I except from that I don't do much. But I have to submit it next week and after that there will be more posts. There is one coming about looking back, and probably some pics about the last couple of weeks...Until then, have a great week!!;)

There is always a first...

Although I am living in Germersheim already for three years I haven't been able to go to the Christmas market. Somehow I was at home (or busy otherwise) during these weekends. You have to know now, that this market is very small and thus is not open 4 weeks ahead of Christmas (which is the usual) but rather two weekends during December (Most of the times at the beginning of December and then again in the middle). This is kind of lame, because usually I had other plans on those weekends and I always hoped for next year.

So this year was my first time and it was really fun! I went with a friend and we enjoyed some Gluehwein, Crêpe and some fun (Christmas) music was played by a live band.Although it closes at 9pm already we were there quite late but we still had a chance to look around and see the nice homemade pieces we could buy. It's a really nice and cozy Christmas market and it's definitely something different to the BIG ones in Germany and around...

Finally Christmas decoration up

So since I wasn't allowed to decorate for Christmas two weeks ago (apparently something only Germans do, I guess) and with other things on my mind it took me a while to get everything settled. But now I have! And it makes it really starting to feel like Christmas is coming soon. Not that I wasn't in the Christmas spirit bevore...:P
Take a look:
And I did a wrath thing too, but didn't like it too much and redid it again!
First attempt
Not my best...
Too much going on in this small space, I think.
2. try
Now I love it.;)

Kind of limited

I don't know what I would do if I had a bigger kitchen but probably cooking and backing all the time! (Even though I have no idea who is eating all that delicious food.) But because my kitchen is tini tiny I am limited to what I can cook. Everything that needs more than two fried pans or pots is out...and don't let me get started on baking! I CAN'T bake because I don't have an oven...which is really the worst in this apartment. I can life with a small kitchen but without an oven? Hello? Well, I use the time I am at home at my parent's home to use the oven as much as I can and can't wait for the next idea to baked!;)
So the last meals I had very pretty basic. Some potatoes, rice or noodles with some kind of vegetable and a little bit of meat. Have you ever tried cooking healthy just for one person? It's hard because everything comes in HUGE sizes (at least it seems like it) and if you're a single household that can be though if you don't want to eat the same for five days straight. :P So most of the time I cook simple meals. But some days I'm in the mood for something really good and then I cook something new out of a cookbook even though I will be mad at me afterwards because of all the things I have to clean afterwards... Most of the time though, it's worth it... ;)
First macarons...*yummy*

Uni Theatre

...is always entertaining! But this time was also very funny! I have laughed all night long. Even late night in bed later that night. It was so much fun watching these one-act plays. Everyone so different but very very good in its own way. That night I had so much fun although I really missed my friend with me there! I used to go to these plays with one particular person but she is studying abroad so we weren't able to watch it together!:(( Though I really wanted to see the play... And I knew if I didn't went to see it, I would be mad at myself... So I am really glad I went and had a really fun night!!

New fall decoration

Fall is in town... or at least it is supposed to!;) This year it seams that we skipped it a little since it was already snowing in the last week of October. Nevertheless I am not ready for the Christmas and Snow decorations and that is why I still need my fall decorations! I bought some heath to add a little color to my balcony which is already prepped for winter.

And the second decoration is my candlestick. Which  happen to love since I can redecorate it every season!*yay*

I collected some leafs, pressed them and added them to the candlestick. However this was not my best idea because they are starting to break and leave nasty crumbs everywhere... But still I like it and just have to figure out how I can preserve (maybe with hair spray??) them. I also found some chestnuts, acorns and such stuff and put them in there as well...
