As the blog title says, I was visiting some friends in Wittenberg. It was a fun weekend...:D
Nice evening in front of the TV.

Angels of Berlin

Ein Wochenendtrip bei Freunden, das ist lustig. Ein Tag auf dem Flohmarkt-sehr Beutereich. Und alte Lieder neu zu entdecken und sich schlapp zu lachen- einfach unbezahlbar...

Rain

Let the rain wash away all the pain of yesterday...That said I hope that this rain tonight will clear the air and make some trouble smaller. Let it ease the way and make me finish faster. Happily going my way with some nice laughter. Make the wait a lot more smaller and give me patience for the wait. Then I can enjoy the days to come a little harder...

Thinking about it

"Maybe you think you'll be entitled to more happiness later by forgoing all of it now, but it doesn't work that way. Happiness takes as much practice as unhappiness does. It's by living that you live more. By waiting you wait more. Every waiting day makes your life a little less. Every lonely day makes you a little smaller. Every day you put off your life makes you less capable of living it."

The angels come to visit us,
            and we only know them
when they are gone.
-George Eliot

I finished the 'Sisterhood everlasting'. These quotes above are taken from it. I think it summons up what the book is trying to say and what the reader should learn from it. I thought of it as an end for this sisterhood in its written way (and maybe in its way as a movie).
A friendship needs hard work to survive and when you have made friends for life they will be there for you no matter what if both side are willing to work for it. And if you have a great friendship you are proud of, don't waste it. Even if you are apart, as long as you keep them in your heart, they are always with you...

Do something new...

I found a tutorial on the internet how to make such cards. I was in love right away. And since I am always looking for new ideas for cards this seemed perfect and I tried it. Those are pop up cards and I was fascinated how easily they are made. Here you can see the tutorial and that it isn't has hard as you may have thought. Still I need some more practice and some more ideas. But it seems to me, that I got better with the second card. I going to make more of them, because I so like the idea and I don't want to spend too much money on uncreative birthday cards that are sold at a store.

All about Steve

When I saw that Sandra Bullock won the golden raspberry for her movie I was kind of in shock and wanted to see the movie myself to judge! I had seen the Blind Side and was in Love with the movie and the massage and how well the character suited Sandra B. . So I bought the movie and watched and now I can understand why it  won. I think it doesn't deserve it but it is absolutely not one of Sandra Bullock's best movies.

My first plum jam

Since I had to make the Zucchini cake but already cut and pitted the plums I was going to make something out of them too. I know, I know, it doesn't look very pretty but it tastes that much better!hihi I made only 4 glasses full, it's not much but I had to use the plums and on the other hand our pantry is already full with self made jam and it would have burst if I  had done more...
Recipe

Ingredients:
1kg Plums
1/2 Teaspoon Cinnamon
200g sugar
Tablespoon Rum

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 300F(150C).Wash, cut and pit the plums and prepare the glasses. Cook the plums until they are tender and then put them in a casserole that fits your oven. Insert 50g of the sugar and the cinnamon. Put the casserole in the middle row of your oven and keep the oven a little gap open. Without stirring the plums let them in the oven for 30 minutes then take them out and put another 50g of sugar in the plums. Do so until all the sugar is used. And then you can fill your glasses. The skin of our garden plums is very hard so I sieved it first and then fill the glasses.

Connected...

...through this ring with my parents. The registrar said that some couples give their children also something when they are getting married after being together for such a long time. And that is what my parents did. It was such a surprise for me. I had no idea that they had planned something like this! I LOVE this ring and every time I look down on it I think of this special day!

Package...

...arrived on Monday and I was really really happy! Because it gives me some more to read but also to spur me on to finish off the other book I am reading!;)
Nicholas Sparks-True Believer
Nicholas Sparks- The Choice
Asa Larsson- Sonnensturm
Ann Brashares- Sisterhood everlasting

... but these books are not the only one's I want to read this summer (what summer?)!More than ten books are waiting for me on the shelves. And since their growing in size and I don't know where to put all the fabulous books I planning on adding two new shelves to my room...

Unfreiwilliger Zucchini Kuchen...

Application...

...last minute. A couple of days ago I saw an ad for an internship at a company where I study. So I didn't hesitated a minute and called them right away to ask if they were still looking for an intern. They say they haven't looked trough all applicants yet and that I could still apply. And that was exactly what I did. I wrote an application and mailed it to them right away...I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Stick to it...

On the last day of the last year I wrote about what I did in 2010 and liked and what I don't want to do or change in 2011. Well, I thought now that we are half through it, I thought it was a great idea to look back if I did what I wanted to do or changed some things.
I wrote that I hopefully get to travel and will start a job. Unfortunately I didn't get to travel as much as I liked so far. So far I have just visited Neustadt(near the city where I study) and Stuttgart with a friend. This is due part to my operation in March and the recovery that took like for ever. Somehow I lost track of finding a job. I really do have respect for all the people who study and work at the same time. Most of the time I would not know how to coordinate those two things and that is why I didn't really looked for a job.
I also wanted to concentrate more on the really important stuff (e.g at Uni)! And I am really proud of myself that I did that. I really concentrated on doing all the necessary things for uni right away and started learning in advance for my big exam. Unfortunately I still don't know how this went and if I will pass with a good grade. I'll keep my fingers crossed...
Things I wanted to do less in 2011 was to be persuaded by others, don't fight with others too much and spending less money for unimportant stuff! I think I can say, that I stick to two of the listed things. Last year it felt for me like I did a lot of things to please others even though I wasn't so comfortable with the decision. This year however I listened more to myself and what I wanted. And so far so good. I have stuck to it and I am very happy with it. Of course it also meant, that I choose the people that surround me and benefit me. I am not a selfish person, but sometimes you have to go with your guts and it makes you feel good again. And that is he important thing and people who are just there to when they need you are not really friends. I don't know if I fought less with people. I thought I did, but somehow I don't get rid of the feeling that I somehow have. Or in other words: I somehow pissed them off. At least that's my feeling and we will see if I was right or not. The last part of what I wanted to do less is spending too much money for unimportant stuff. I am pretty sure I did that most of the time. Of course I bought some things I didn't necessarily needed but that's life and I didn't bought any crap and that's good. ;)
So far I think I did pretty good and I hope I will stick to it the rest of the year...

The Soloist

Do you know the feeling when you see a movie trailer and you desperately want to see the movie but it never made it to the German cinemas (especially, when you live in a small town)? Well this movie was like this. It is called 'The Soloist' and unfortunately it never made its way to the cinema in my area. So when I saw it in the shelf's I bought it right away.
The movie is about a man who has a great talent as a musician. Unfortunately his illness got in the way and he stopped attending Julliard. A reporter heard him play on the streets and was fascinated with his talent and so he wrote an article in the newspaper about him and his great way of playing. And suddenly the soloist has a friend...

This is the story in few words. I wanted to watch this movie very badly and therefore I was very excited to actually watch it. It is not a mainstream movie. It has many messages in between the lines and it gives you something to think about! I really like the message the movie is trying to give and I am very happy that I was finally able to watch the movie...

Apples, apples, apples...

Now we just picked some apples from our neighbors garden and I just don't like mealy apples, so I decided to bake something. First it was just a normal German apple pie(Streuselkuchen) and secondly some apple crisp. I got the apple crisp recipe from my host-mom in the USA. I really loved it and so I tried to do them in the muffin tray, but unfortunately this wasn't the best of my ideas. It tastes great, but the paper got stuck on the tray and it is hard to get it off!

More practice needed...

I wanted to make something special for a big day, but unfortunately it didn't went as planned. I wanted to make something similar to this, but somehow it turned out differently. Nevertheless was it very tasty and making it showed me that I need a little bit more practice to do such a cake.

Memories of a lifetime

First Résumé

I was so happy that Neutrogena started to sell this day cream for mainly the face here in Germany. I was looking for a nice moisturizer for a really long time and wasn't able to find one that would match my needs. (I wrote about it earlier, see here )So I bought it right away when I heard of it. Unfortunately I was already disappointed by the product when I used it for the first time. But nevertheless I stuck to it for a while and tried it. For me it's just not a perfect fit as a facial moisturizer because it didn't soaked in after applying and I hate when you have the feeling that you are wearing a mask or something like that. And after applying my make up I felt like I was sweating underneath and I don't like that feeling at all. But other than that I really like the product and I will be using it as an body moisturizer.
