Inspiration

...and I am back!;)

Usually I browse the web for new inspiration. Recipes, DIY, decoration, fashion and a lot of different blogs! This is how I came across this great recipe I am about to share!
I was reading this blog and I got drawn to another blog because of the recipe for a cake. And that's how I learned about this recipe and thought I NEED TO MAKE THIS CAKE!!!:D

Crêpe-Cake
(adapted from Herzfutter)

Ingredients
Crêpes
500g flour
1l milk
2 packs of vanilla sugar (or some vanilla aroma instead)
8 eggs
80 g melted butter
dash of salt

Chocolat-buttercream
3 egg yolks
50g sugar
150g butter
100g dark chocolate
125ml whipped cream

Peanut butter cream
175g cream cheese
2 tbsp. Nutella
2 tbsp. peanut butter
100g chopped peanuts
75g powdered sugar

Peanut caramel
100g sugar
1 pack of vanilla sugar
100ml whipped cream
100g peanuts

2 bananas
100g bacon

How to:
1. Start with the bacon. Fry it, dry it with a paper napkin and let them cool completely.
2. Prepare the crêpe dough. To do so fill all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well with a hand mixer. The butter is supposed to be melted but not entirely hot. Let it rest for a while. I let it rest for 10 minutes (Used the time to clean up!;) )
3. Start by making the thin crêpes. I used a well coated pan so I did not use any oil to be able to turn the crêpes. I made them and also started with the creams. But you have to remember your crêpe too otherwise it will burn...
4. Put a pot on the stove with water in it and get a bowl that can sit on the pots top without getting in contact of the water in the pot. Mix the egg yolk and the sugar in the bowl on top of the pot until the cream thickens. Pay attention that the cream doesn't boil!!! After that you should let it cool off.
5. Melt the dark chocolate. In another bowl you should beat the butter and then add the yolk-sugar-cream. Add the chocolate to the mixture. Let cool completely. In the meantime beat the whipped cream and when the other mixture is cooled completely add the whipped cream. Set aside.
6. For the next cream you mix the cream cheese, Nutella, peanut butter and powdered sugar in another bowl and mix well with a hand mixer. When the mixture is smooth fold the chopped peanuts in. Set aside.
7. Cut thin slices of the banana when you need it for a layer! (otherwise they turn brown and they are had to move because they are so thin)
8. Now you can start layering. Add a cream and then a crêpe again. The order doesn't matter. Mix it up and coat the layers well (in the beginning I used too little of the creams so that I had a lot of left and had to open the layers up again).
9. When you are done layering you should do the caramel. Therefore put the sugar and the vanilla sugar in a well coated pan and let the sugar melt nicely. Add the not so cold whipped cream (not beaten) into the melted sugar and stir well and quickly!(very quickly)! If you have never tried making caramel yourself, use an old pan and an old spoon to stir. That way you won't be mad when all the caramel gets stuck on in (which was so hard to get off). Then add the peanuts and stir again.
10. While the caramel is still hot you should add this to the crêpe layers. Let it cool of and enjoy with some coffee!

I made this for the Caphé Sunday at my dormitory. Everybody loved even though they where surprised of the ingredients. For many people there could have been more bacon and more banana inside. For my taste it was too much peanuts in there. But the flavor was an explosion and you should definitely try it!;)
And a friend of mine and I gave a vegetarian one a thought! Maybe one could use Camembert  because you really should have something salty in there for all the sweetness!;)

DON'T BE FOOLED!!! This is a very very sweet cake! So the bacon in it is very much needed to bring the sweetness down a notch!!!;)
Try it! It's very great!
