Homemade Tortillas

You know how hard it is to find some tortillas in stores here? Usually you have to wait for themed week, like a mexican week in the store, to buy it at a good price. Besides that you can spend a lot of money on tortillas. I don't know why. So I was looking for a recipe and gladly found one. Just yesterday I tried them and have to tell you that they really taste like to ones you can buy in stores. They are a little chewyer than the ones in stores but I happen to like that. ;) With the recipe below I made about 10 tortillas. I made the dough balls (6) a little smaller which was in retrospect not the best choice. But now I know!;) But they are really yummy and I even got to save some for the freezer. Hopefully they will taste as great as they did now when I'm going to defrost them!

Chewy Homemade Tortillas
( recipe by Blessed Life Atop A Cake Stand)
Ingredients:

2 cups of all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup lukewarm milk
1 Tbsp oil

How to...:
1. Mix the flour and baking powder together in a bowl.
2. Combine the salt, milk and oil.
3. Create a well in the dry mixture and pour in the liquid all at one time. Stir together with a fork until well moistened.
4. Dump onto a floured work surface and knead the dough until it is no longer sticky.
5. LET IT REST for 15 minutes. You need to let it rest so the baking powder can do a little magic. It won't rise or anything but just get more workable.
6. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
7. LET IT REST again for 15 minutes.
8. Get out your rolling pins. I like to do this on an unfloured surface so that the dough has a little traction but if yours is sticking, then flour your table! Now just roll your balls as thin as you can humanly get them
9. Warm up a skillet.
10. On a DRY skillet, place the rolled out dough. Allow it to cook until bubbly (see picture below) and the bottom is browned. Then flip them over to cook the other side!
11. Enjoy!!!;)

Tonight

Source
That is really how I feel tonight. To speak up and make life simpler that way. With everything going on at home, missing friends, stressed out from college and on top something that bothers me with my flatmates. Kind of proud of myself for speaking up. Something that usually takes me some time to do. I know, for those of you who know me personally, you say "Whaaaat?", but it's true, I have to get all my courage together and speak up unless my annoyance-balance bubbles over...but that is something completely different (and really not a nice side of me).
Do you know those moments?

Kurze Nacht
